Made by Sean Capiaux, head winemaker at O’Shaugnessy Estate Winery, the 2018 POP 300 is a blend of Chardonnay, Viognier, and Grenache Blanc. The nose immediately gives indication that this is no typical California Chardonnay, with the Viognier shining through. Wildly aromatic, with lilacs, fresh lavender, ripe peach, honeysuckle and candided ginger. The palate is soft, round and mildly weighty with a light sweetness and a nutty bitter edge (presumably from the Grenache Blanc) on the finish. A unique and interesting California white wine with loads of personality.
