There is a lovely, lingering perfume beneath the densely packed black fruit, crushed stones, licorice and cedar. The full-bodied palate has fine-boned tannins and a tension that cuts through the layers of complexity and fruit. Impressive, considering the vineyard’s west-facing hillside. Oakville Terraces at the foot of Dalla Valle is approximately 0.8 hectares in size. The wine is aged in medium-plus toast Darnajou barrels. In the glass, it is super bright and lovely, showing sagebrush and bay laurel alongside cassis and fleshy red cherry fruit that brings a mouthwatering quality. Granular tannins frame the palate, becoming finer and more resolved on the lengthy, full-bodied finish. A very inviting and nicely layered Cabernet with true varietal character and a satisfying mineral-driven finish. Crafted by Thomas Rivers Brown.

(94-96 points) From a site just below Dalla Valle, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Terraces offers up scents of black cherries, slightly herbal leanings and hints of redcurrants. It's full-bodied, structured and focused, with tannins and texture that come across as more silky than the typical Thomas Rivers Brown deep plushness.- Joe Czerwinski

The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Terraces is a potent, brooding wine. Dark-toned fruit, gravel, dried herbs and licorice make a strong opening statement. There's good fruit intensity, but I also get the impression this is still coming together. The stronger oak imprint compared to the other wines in the range suggests there might be a bit less inherent concentration and overall depth. Even so, the 2023 is quite attractive. The Oakville Terraces is quite attractive, but it's a bit lighter on the palate than the other wines in this range. I am accustomed to seeing wines with greater textural depth from this site. - Antonio Galloni
