The 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Juline is an even split of Grenache and Syrah that was fermented and aged in new barrels. A classic wine from this estate, it has nicely integrated oak in its red and black fruits, toasted spice, vanilla bean, candied flower, and licorice aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a layered texture and ripe tannins, yet it drops off on the finish surprisingly quickly. Nevertheless, I love its mid-palate, and the balance as well as the tannins are spot on. Give bottles 2-4 years in the cellar, and it's going to cruise for 10-15 years.
