Checking as a mix of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Clos Badon Thunevin from Thunevin sports a ruby/plum color as well as terrific aromatics of spiced red and black currants, spice, tobacco leaf, and chocolaty oak, which is beautifully integrated. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it's concentrated and has ripe, polished tannins as well as a gorgeous finish. It's a beautiful, rich, yet elegant 2019 that's well worth seeking out and cellaring. It will keep for 15-20 years, if not longer.

Aromas of sweet berries, fresh currants and flowers, such as hibiscus. Full-bodied with lots of fruit and richness. Soft and slightly chewy tannins. Flavorful finish. Lots of ripe fruit, but well-framed by the tannins. Drink after 2023.

(91-93 points) Earthy, with nuances of flowers, espresso, smoke and dark ripe plums, the wine is round, lush and generous on the palate. The 2019 Clos Badon-Thunevin is bursting at the seams with blackberry jam, chocolate, new leather, cloves, licorice and rose petal. This heady, flamboyant Saint-Émilion is not exactly subtle, but it sure is delicious. Soft, plush contours add to its considerable allure. This is another terrific wine from Jean-Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud. -- Antonio Galloni

The 2019 Clos Badon Thunevin has turned out very nicely, offering up aromas of dark berries and cherries framed by a deft application of new oak. Full-bodied, broad and lavishly textural, it's velvety, fleshy and seamless, with an ample core of succulent fruit and ripe, melting tannins, concluding with a vanillin-inflected finish. - William Kelley
