The current release of the lovely non-vintage Brut from Roederer Estate is crafted from its customary cépages of sixty percent chardonnay and forty percent pinot noir. It is from the base year of 2020 and was aged two years on its fine lees, disgorged in March of 2023 and finished with a dosage of ten grams per liter. The wine delivers a refined nose of green apple, sweet quince, bread dough, lovely minerality, dried flowers and a topnote of gentle smokiness. On the palate the wine is vibrant, focused and full-bodied, with a lovely core, excellent soil signature, a superb spine of buried acidity, refined mousse and excellent balance on the long, complex and very precise finish. This is an excellent bottle of sparkling wine.
