The NV Fifty Year Old Tawny Port is based on a field blend of Touriga Nacional, Sousão, Tinta Roriz, and Touriga Francesa with an average age of 50 years. The aging was all in 640-liter barrels. Flat-out awesome notes of caramelized plums, toffee, toasted nuts, licorice, and candied olives all define the aromatics, and this sensational Tawny hits the palate with a massive, full-bodied profile that has perfectly integrated alcohol and sweetness, a stacked mid-palate, and a monster of a finish. It has a subtle nutty, Rancio-like style, incredible complexity, and a level of intensity and richness that's hard to describe. I suspect it will be just about immortal.

This is extremely rich in feel, with a buckwheat syrup note wrapped around a core of unctuous date, warmed pecan pie, Turkish coffee, Brazil nut, hazelnut husk and halva flavors that won't quit, while the marriage of flattering sweetness and dry cut results in a ridiculously long finish. A stunner.
