Light gold with persistent fine bubbles, the Pierre Moncuit Delos Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru NV is a stainless steel fermented cuvée based on the 2019 vintage aged a minimum of three years on lees and finished with a three gram per liter dosage. Redolent of ripe quince, Meyer lemon peel, nougat, chalk dust and a tiny whiff of honey, the taut medium-bodied palate has tightly coiled acidity, a focused citrusy core and really fine chalky texture on the finish. A refreshing and focused style, the NV Champagne Grand Cru Blanc De Blancs Cuvée Pierre Moncuit-Delos Extra Brut reveals bright aromatics of green apples, lime zest, white flowers, and chalky stones. The palate is medium-bodied and has even tension, with bright acidity, a spritely mousse, and a mineral-inflected finish. The NV (2021) Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Delos Grand Cru is attractive, although a touch svelte in this release, which is not entirely surprising. Brisk acids cut through a core of citrus fruit, while floral and chalky notes lift the mid-palate and finish. Dosage is 3 grams per liter.
