Delicate and racy with sweet lime, white pear and green almond aromas up front, although there’s some lemon madeleine richness tucked into the fluffy, gentle mousse. Narrow, pure yet not austere in style, it’s a zesty and ultimately refreshing, reductively styled blanc de blancs. From 12 crus of Chardonnay, with 30% reserve wine addition.

Henriot’s multi-vintage Blanc de Blancs NV is based on the 2016 vintage and produced from 12 crus from estate owned vineyards with 30% of reserve wines included in the blend. Delicate aromas of yellow apple, lemon wafers and chalk lead into a light to medium-bodied palate with laser-focused, lively acidity wound around orchard fruit concentration. The non-vintage Blanc de Blancs has always been one of the strong suits at Henriot, and the new release is no exception. The bouquet is pure, vibrant and classy, offering up scents of pear, apple, chalky soil tones, incipient notes of crème patissière and a topnote of white flowers. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied, focused and still youthfully zippy, with a fine core, good focus and grip, elegant mousse and a long, zesty finish. As is often the case with this cuvée, a year or two in the cellar will really allow it to blossom on the palate.

Based on the 2016 vintage, with 32% of vins de réserve, the Henriot NV Blanc de Blancs, disgorged in June 2022 with five grams per liter, reveals an elegant and fresh bouquet with aromas of lemon, peach, spring flowers, spices and pastry. Seamless and vinous, the palate is medium to full-bodied with an elegant mousse and a lively, fresh finish. It is slightly tighter than last year, but this is a well-elaborated Blanc de Blancs that can age for another five years. - Yohan Castaing

From 12 crus within Champagne, the NV Champagne Blanc De Blancs Brut is based on the 2017 vintage and has between 30-50% reserve wines in the blend. It boasts a bright yellow/golden color and offers ripe aromas of pineapple, preserved citrus, yellow flowers, and fresh bread. Inviting on the palate, with a pillowing mousse, it remains focused, with a broad-shouldered feel and a clean, silky textured finish. It’s ready to enjoy now and should hold up well over the coming 5-6 years. - Audrey Frick
