The most subtle lemony cloud hovers above a certain chalkiness on the nose. Utter subtlety also characterises the super-svelte palate that is as light as a feather, yet conveys great depth and creamy softness. The freshness seems buffered by chalk, the mousse serves to remind you that this is actually Champagne, so breezy, so light, so elegant is this. A wonderful combination of depth and weightlessness.

This has a complex nose of sourdough, parmesan, oyster shells, dried pineapples and lemons. It’s medium-bodied, sharp and structured on the palate, with fantastic phenolic tension and underlying chalky minerality. Tight mousse. 100% chardonnay from Cotes des Blancs. Based on 2018 harvest. Disgorged September 2022. 5.5g/L dosage. Drink or hold.

A medium straw color, the NV Champagne Blanc De Blancs offers up aromas of lemon balm, white flowers, savory saline, and sweet bread dough. Medium-bodied and lively, with a pillowy mousse, a chalky texture, and a clean, powdery finish, it’s going to show its best over the next 10 years. - Audrey Frick

This particular bottle of Gosset “Grand Blanc de Blancs” had been in my cellar for three or four years, but the back label did not include any pertinent information about base year, date of disgorgement or dosage, so I do not have a lot of information to go on about its foundations. In any event, the wine is aging beautifully and starting to really blossom and drink with generosity, as the nose offers up a refined blend of pear, apple, fresh-baked bread, chalky soil tones, a nice touch of acacia blossoms, almond and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and zesty, with a superb core of fruit, fine soil signature, elegant mousse and a long, complex finish that closes with excellent lift and grip. First class juice!

The Chardonnay in this Champagne gives it a tight, mineral character. Acidity and citrus vie with the wine's white fruits. There are just hints of brioche and toast, suggesting this bottling is at a great point for drinking. Roger Voss

The latest rendition of Gosset's NV Brut Grand Blanc de Blancs reveals youthful aromas of citrus zest, white flowers and almond paste. Medium to full-bodied, bright and fleshy, with tangy acids and a pillowy mousse, it concludes with chalky grip. Gosset’s Blanc de Blancs Brut NV is based on the 2018 vintage and assembled with Chardonnay from diverse Champagne terroirs. Very bright and lively, aromas of citrus, poached pear, brioche, chalk dust and faint hints of honey open on to a light to medium-bodied palate that is well-proportioned between juicy, crisp yellow apple with honey notes and vivacious acidity that frames a finish with refreshing salinity. - Sarah Mayo
