Based on perfectly ripe fruit with precise botrytis, the 2023 Schloss Johannisberg Rosalack Riesling Auslese opens with a precise and flinty, stimulating savory yet also intense and generously fruity bouquet that indicates remarkable precision and terroir-driven savoriness but also floral characters. Lush and round on the palate, this is a fine and intense, well-concentrated and finely textured Auslese with delicate, precise acidity and a stimulating saline, crystalline and mouthwatering finish. This is a remarkably fine botrytis style with finely grained and saline quartzite acidity. Very intense and always stimulating, this is reminiscent of lush white and yellow nectarines and peaches. The 2023 Riesling Schloss Johannisberg Rosalack Auslese was made with around 30% botrytized fruit and opens with notes of ripe, fresh peach. That gorgeous peach purity carries right through to the palate, where it swirls and dances, pervaded by tangerine zestiness and aromatic orange peel.
