Intensely fragrant and perfumed on the nose, smells really deep and heady with a vibrant purple/pink colour to the rim. Roses and violets with freshly picked blackcurrants. Juicy and so bright, gorgeous liveliness straight away - joyful with a hint of sweetness before quite salty, graphite-packed tannins come in giving some nuance and complexity. A lovely, intriguing glass of wine, with plenty to say. It’s cool with some mintiness. Sapid and mouthwatering. Moreish. (Drink between 2030-2045)

(93-94 points) 2023 d’Armailhac offers a fine, fresh and fruity nose with deep, crunchy notes of cabernet and peppery, cassis like notes. The freshness and ripe fruits soak through this wine which is stout and elegant. One of the best young d’Armailhac’s I can recall having tasted. In 2023 this wine has been elevated to a new level of precise wine making and is a great success for the chateau. It should age nicely and will be interesting to follow. I have high hopes that this style of winemaking will be continued at d’Armailhac.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 d’Armailhac is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon (the highest ever percentage for d’Armailhac), 15% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, with a pH of 3.75. It swans out of the glass with gregarious notes of warm cassis and red currant jelly, followed by hints of clove oil, cedar, menthol, and wet slate. The medium-bodied palate reveals fine-grained tannins and a racy backbone to support the vibrant black and red berry layers, finishing with a minty lift. The alcohol is 13.5%.

Based on 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot, the 2023 Château D'Armailhac is a rocking little Pauillac offering notes of ripe red and black currants, melted crayon, graphite, and spicy wood. It's medium-bodied and has a ripe, nicely concentrated, balanced, classy profile, with pure tannins and outstanding length. I love its purity, balance, and elegance, and it's going to shine with just a few years of bottle age yet should cruise over the following two decades. Drink 2028-2048.

Soft, and inviting, with a spicy, minty edge to the fruit in the crisp, vibrant finish, give it a few years of aging, and it will reward your patience. The 2023 d'Armailhac has a delightful bouquet, beautifully defined with pure black fruit laced with graphite. The oak is seamlessly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, laden with (again) graphite-infused black fruit that render this Pauillac through and through.
