Wow, this is quite impressive, with lots of freshness highlighted by chalky energy. Minerally in a very dusty mode, showing ripe but racy red berries and cherries. (94-96 points) The 2023 Les Perrières de Lafleur reveals aromas of violet, dark wild berries, spices and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, enveloping and deep, layered and textured, it has a good depth of fruit with powdery tannins, concluding with a saline, lead pencil-inflected finish. Crafted entirely from Cabernet Franc, it’s one of the most singular Les Perrières produced by Baptiste Guinaudeau and his team. - Yohan Castaing

It has a deep garnet-purple color and the nose is so floral with scents of roses and lavender opening out to reveal a core of redcurrant jelly, black raspberries, and fresh black cherries, followed by hints of pencil shavings and wild sage. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is graceful and energetic, prancing with vibrant red berry and floral-inspired flavors, supported by very fine-grained tannins and fantastic tension, finishing on a long, lingering, mineral note. Les Perrières 2023 is 100% Bouchet (Cabernet Franc). “This is the first time we’ve done 100% Cabernet Franc here—it is supposed to be a varietal copy of Lafleur. We loved the effect of the Cabernet Franc on the limestone this year,” commented Omri Ram. It has a deep garnet‑purple color, leaping from the glass with bold notes of fresh black cherries and blackberries, giving way to an undercurrent of violets, pencil lead, and tar with a touch of bay leaves. Full‑bodied, the palate delivers a rock‑solid structure of firm, grainy tannins and amazing tension to frame the taut, muscular black‑fruit layers, finishing long and minerally (pH 3.40). Stunning!

Violet, allspice, tomato leaf, dried herbs, tobacco on the nose with some floral notes and minty freshness. Juicy and lithe, clean and clear. Succulent but so pure and linear - straight and well defined not expansive but pretty and easy to taste at this point. Nothing harsh, all harmonious. Sweet, sour and umami soy flavours - so many different elements going on at the same time with a sweet lift at the end. Given its 100% Cabernet Franc (usually around 70%), this is a little atypical, quite singular, with plenty of interest. So much brightness and energy with an exceptionally long length.

Fragrant tomato leaf, peony, fresh tobacco, with a saline hit from the first moments that runs through the blueberry fruits. This is a fascinating Les Perrières, really one that those who follow this label will be interested in getting hold of, because it is entirely Cabernet Franc for the first time. It's a little austere, as you might expect, but then this wine often is in its early years due to its limestone soils, and there is a purity and vibrancy underneath the fruit that is stunning, and roots you to the spot. Huge energy, vertical lift, wonderful. 33% new oak for ageing.

All Cabernet Franc (Bouschet clone) and just beautiful, the 2023 Les Perrières De Lafleur has a distinct minerality in its red and blue fruits as well as chalk, spring flowers, violets, and spice. It's medium to full-bodied, has a pure, graceful, focused mouthfeel, beautiful balance and depth, fine tannins, and a great finish. This is the first time it's been 100% Cabernet Franc, due to the heat wave that gave the Merlot a level of ripeness that made it difficult to blend with the Cabernet Franc. This brilliant beauty is absolutely gorgeous and will keep for 20 years or more. Drink 2026-2045.

(JL 92-94 points) Cigar box, mint, spice, crushed rocks, black raspberries, sea salt, and red plums fill the perfume. The fruit is bright, fresh, crisp, and racy, The marine influence is quite strong, adding its salt-crusted nuances to the red berries on the mid-palate, and in the finish. This is the only vintage featuring 100% Cabernet Franc. The property has not decided if this is a trend, or a one-time-only wine. So, if you are a Cabernet Franc fan, get it while it is hot! The harvest took place September 20-September 27. Drink from 2027-2040.

The 2023 Les Perrières is fabulous. Brisk and tightly wound in the glass, Les Perrières is so impressive. Crushed rocks, graphite, rose petal, blood orange, mint and mocha race across the palate. The 2023 is vibrant, deep and also beautifully crystalline in its precision. - Antonio Galloni
