(92-95 points) A blend of Combes Dessus, Aux Echezeaux and En Champs, the vines being from 80-100+ years, yielding 35 hl/ha. En Champs, at the northern end of Gevrey, bordering Brochon has the oldest vines. 70% whole bunch and pedicel style, with the large stems removed. Glowing ruby crimson. A very refined nose, not over stated. Rich full fruit, with a little more oak showing then the pedicel takes over at the back of the palate, extending it enormously. All red fruit not black and really fine. Cherries to finish.

(91-93 points) The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Très Vieilles Vignes is a blend of three different parcels between 80 and 100 years old from three terroirs. This has a very floral bouquet with wilted rose petal infusing the vivacious red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth texture, the removal of the pedicels lending a silkiness that I don't think you would obtain otherwise. Lightly spiced toward the harmonious finish, this is one of Mortet's more sensual offerings in 2023. -Neal Martin

(90-92 points) An exceptionally pretty and beautifully layered nose combines notes of plum, spice, the sauvage and cool floral wisps. The caressing but decidedly punchy medium-bodied flavors conclude in a dusty, powerful and balanced finale that firm, serious and long where a touch of wood slowly emerges. This is a terrific Gevrey villages and warmly recommended.

(90-92 points) The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Très Vieilles Vignes is lovely, wafting from the glass with notes of dark berries, orange zest, spices and rose petals, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate that's rich and creamy, the vintage expressing this bottling's tendency toward structure as simply greater depth and weight of fruit. - WK
