A blend of 91% Syrah, 7% Mourvèdre, and 2% Viognier from a mix of sites, fermented with 40% whole clusters and aged 22 months in 65% new oak, the 2023 Andremily No.12 has remarkable purity and freshness as well as that classic Jim Binns texture and richness. Black and blue fruits, spring flowers, graphite, and chalky minerality all shine on the nose, and it's full-bodied on the palate, with a deep, layered mouthfeel and a great finish. It reminds me of a great vintage of Guigal La Turque. Give it 4-5 years if you can, and it will see its 30th birthday in fine form. Drink 2030-2056.

The 2023 Andremily No. 12 is an enticing display of Jim Binns’ house style of opulence and amplitude, which here really benefits from the cool growing season and the cool site. Layered and complex, the No. 12 unfurls slowly in the glass, taking its time to reveal its true personality. Surprisingly red-toned in nature, it delivers layers of dark raspberry, chalk, blood orange and cracked white peppercorn. The tannins are ultra fine and very present, providing an ample framework for the wine’s generous mouthfeel. More than anything, though, the 2023 speaks to balance. It’s a total winner. - Billy Norris
