The 2022 Tenuta degli Dei is superb. Dark, ample and layered, the 2022 has a lot to offer. Sumptuous black cherry, plum, leather, menthol, sage and mocha are beautifully delineated. The blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Petit Verdot and 15% Cabernet Franc is unusual for its strong presence of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, both of which are rarely seen in Chianti Classico. It's an approach that works so well here. The 2022 spent 18 months in French oak, 50% new, with a growing emphasis on slightly larger barrels for the Petit Verdot and Franc. Tenuta degli Dei remains one of the most original and distinctive wines in Chianti Classico. - Antonio Galloni

A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Petit Verdot and 15% Cabernet Franc, the Tenuta degli Dei 2022 Cavalli is a rich and pleasurable expression with velvety intensity and plenty of black fruit. This richly textured Tuscan red delivers pretty clarity of aromas; plum, blackberry and dark cherry appear with brightness next to delicate floral notes. This release of 18,900 bottles (plus larger formats) benefits from a lighter winemaking approach in which the fruit is given more space to shine. Owned by Tommaso Cavalli, this estate has vineyards at 400 meters in elevation on galestro shale soils.
