The apex of white wines from Tablas Creek is the Esprit Blanc de Tablas, a Rhône blend with Roussane leading the way; Grenache Blanc, Picpoul Blanc, Chairette Blanche, Picardan and Bourboulenc all make an appearance—a wine of great aromatic complexity, with beeswax, yellow flower pollen, almond skin and nutmeg. The palate balances the weighty elements of these white Rhône varieties with remarkable brightness and saline minerality, creating textural perfection. Flavours of honeyed peach, spiced baked apple, and wild mountain herbs linger long on the concentrated palate. (Drink between 2024-2035)

The 2022 Esprit de Tablas Blanc is impossible to ignore. Vividly fresh and pure, a burst of crushed stone and dried flowers give way to a cascade of lemony herbs and spices. This is texturally thrilling and silky, nearly glycerol in feel, yet balanced by a core of brisk acidity. Saline minerals add a tactile feel as ripe green apples settle on the senses. It finishes structured and long with a citrusy concentration slowly fading. In 2022 the blend of the Esprit de Tablas Blanc consists of 33% Roussanne, 32% Grenache Blanc, 14% Picpoul Blanc, 8% Picardan, 8% Clairette Blanche and 5% Bourboulenc. This is a lesson in white Rhône blends, utilizing the Roussanne and Grenache Blanc base with accents from Picpoul, Clairette, Picardan and Bourboulenc.
