jamessuckling.com, May 2025

This rich, fruity wine shows huge complexity. Aromas of plums, black cherries, fresh violets and licorice with touches of leather and graphite. Full-bodied, it displays a well-tamed structure, with firm tannins coated in...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, October 2025

Another icon from Tuscany is the Fontodi 2022 Flaccianello della Pieve. This organic wine is beautiful, quite bold and thickly extracted. Across the board, these wines from the 2022 vintage made by Fontodi all show high...

Flaccianello della Pieve is 100% Sangiovese from a selection of the best vineyards in the Colli Toscania Centrale IGT region. At the modern, gravity-fed winery, the juice ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts for at least 3 weeks. The wine ages in Troncais and Allier (French) oak barrels for 24 months.
