(94-96 points) No malolactic fermentation so far at all, not sulphured, and will probably therefore get to bottle without the malo taking place. In which case, the Monts Luisants will be filtered for security. Pure and clean colour, with a particularly complex bouquet, some lime blossom, some greengage, and some earthier notes. White fruit on the palate, with a crisp mineral thread, lively at the finish, indeed a superb finish. I would keep it like this, so let’s hope the malo does not happen. Fuller bodied than the excellent 2021, but just as good.

This singular vineyard of ancient Aligoté has once again delivered a wine of spectacular quality that is of grand cru quality, in my opinion. There are incredibly complex aromas that range from gooseberry to nectarine, ripe pear, and quince, with hints of beeswax and a saline mineral edge. The texture is amazingly fresh and lively for the vintage. Régisseur Alexandre Abel relates that the wine has not yet done its malolactic conversion and will likely be bottled without it to ensure the dynamic texture. Accessible on release, this is also an age-worthy wine that will continue to improve for decades. (Drink between 2028-2065)

(92-94 points) The 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos des Monts Luisants Blanc hadn't completed its malolactic fermentation when I tasted, and it may go to bottle like that. Offering up a reductive bouquet of lime zest, green apple, white flowers and freshly baked bread, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and incisive, with tangy acids to underpin the additional plenitude conferred by the warm year, concluding with a mineral finish. - WK

(91-93 points) At the time of my November 2023 tasting, this had not yet gone through the malolactic fermentation though I underscore that is, curiously enough, not at all unusual for this wine, in fact, it typically does not. While the nose does flirt with reduction, notes of Granny Smith apple, lemon rind and white flowers are perceptible. The middle weight flavors are not nearly as powerful or concentrated as the CC, they are just as mineral-driven and certainly sleeker while displaying an overt austerity on the compact and tension-filled finale. Please note that my predicted range is predicated on the wine not going through malo. If it does eventually go through malo, this does NOT mean that it won't be just as interesting though it will clearly change the texture.

(91-93 points) The 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis Mont Luisants Blanc 1er Cru never started its malolactic and so had not received any SO2. Its well-defined bouquet offers apricot blossom, grapefruit, and light, damp, earthy aromas. The palate is well-balanced with a sapid entry and a crisp citrus thread of acidity that keeps this Aligoté on its toes. It is very spicy on the finish with white pepper and a touch of curry leaf. I like the energy here to the point that I don't think it's such a bad thing if it never goes through its malolactic! Just a slight oxidative back note. It's an intriguing wine that's a bit raw but would go down a treat with some fruits de mer. - Neal Martin
