JS 95

jamessuckling.com, April 2023

(JS 94-95 points) A juicy and solid young St Emilion with crushed stone, hints of large grains of sea salt and a black berry character throughout. Full and chewy, but polished. New Grand Cru. Made from biodynamically...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2023

(WA 93-95 points) A wine that gets my nod as this dynamic estate's finest to date is the 2022 Mangot, a medium to full-bodied, ample and layered wine evocative of cherries, dark berries, licorice and rose petals. Deep...
JL 94

TheWineCellarInsider.com, May 2023

(92-94 points) Elegant, soft, fresh, and deep, the wine quickly focuses you on its layers of ripe, sweet, fresh, dark, red pit fruits. The long, powerful, mineral-edged finish, with its layers of plums, cherries and salt...
VN 93

Vinous, May 2023

(VN 91-93 points) The 2022 Mangot is another impressive wine from this château. Dark red/purplish fruit, lavender, sage, mint and blood orange. Mangot is no longer the brooding powerhouse it once was, but it is still a...

janeanson.com, April 2023

Intense bright berry fruits, cedar smoking on the aromatics, this is enjoyable, edges of sandalwood and incense, heat on the finish but also succulence and impact. A high energy wine from Yann and Karl Todeschini...

Chateau Mangot is a Right Bank Bordeaux estate situated in the east of the Saint-Emilion appellation, within the boundaries of Saint Etienne de Lisse. The estate has a long history dating back to 1546, described in 1559 as having plots of vines planted in ‘belts’ and ‘lines’.

The estate’s 85-acre vineyard is planted primarily with Merlot complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The average age of the vines is 40 years with some Merlot parcels over 60 years of age. The vineyard has four zones of terroir that include 21 separate plots at altitudes between 115 and 280 feet. Soils are mostly clay and limestone making for interesting final blends. The greater limestone presence also gives the Mangot wines density and fullness while retaining freshness, tightness and minerality.
