Strawberry glaze and crushed raspberries with the raspberry seeds and green strawberry leaf doing the quiet and clever work of keeping everything just the right side of savory. Cinchona bark and cinnamon hovering in the background like a well dressed support act. The wine moves across the palate with a juicy and focused purpose, tannins acting as the guide wire keeping everything on track before mountain herbs and flower tea close things out. Aged in large French and Slavonian oak, the 2022 Barolo del Comune di La Morra pours a bright red hue and leans into the softer, more open side of the appellation. On the nose, it reveals wild strawberries, fresh spice, floral perfume, and a gentle chestnut-tinged sweetness. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied and silky, with balanced acidity and an easy, approachable flow. This retains La Morra’s charm without excess weight from this hot and dry vintage.
