(17/20 points) Old-vine Grenache (60%, 20–70 years old) blended with Syrah (20%), Cinsault (5%), Mourvèdre (14%) and Rolle (6%). Direct gentle pressing, fermented for three weeks at low temperatures, then fined using organic green-pea powder (vegan-friendly).
Very pretty, not anaemic, pink. A colour I would describe as peach though, ironically, I rarely see peaches this colour. This has equal measures of vibrant summer and stone fruits and stony/mineral refinement. It has a generous presence across the palate, leading to a long tail of freshness. Juicy and serious at the same time, so that you could just enjoy it on a picnic (as I did the first time I tasted it) or spend some time thinking about it and taking small sips (second time). Very versatile with light summery dishes but not too structured to require food, and substantial enough to be poured at the table with white meats. It's pretty dry so I wouldn't put it with anything too spicy. Really does have great length, freshness and substance. (JH) (Drink between 2022-2024)
