(93-95 points) There is just enough reduction to blur the nuance of what are clearly ripe aromas trimmed in just enough wood to notice. Otherwise, there is terrific energy to the mineral-driven and precise larger-scaled flavors that are at once sleek and powerful while exhibiting the usual youthful austerity on the gorgeously long, balanced and built-to-age finale. In a word, marvelous.

The 2020 les St. Georges from Monsieur Chevillon is another superb wine in the making, sharing the same attributes of broad shoulders, firm tannins, fine soil signature and great purity to its sappy fruit component as is found in the Pruliers and les Cailles this year. The nose jumps from the glass in a refined blend of black cherries, dark berries, chocolate, a touch of eucalyptus, pigeon, beautiful soil tones, woodsmoke and new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and properly reserved out of the blocks, with a rock solid core of pure fruit, great backend mineral undertow, ripe, firm tannins and a long, complex, tangy and chewy finish. This will be a true long distance runner.

(93 - 95+ points) The 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Saint-Georges opens in the glass with aromas of dark berries and plums mingled with warm spices, baking chocolate and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, it's gourmand and dramatic, with lively acids and ample reserves of powdery tannin.- WK

A bright pure purple. Quite a powerful bouquet which will need time to reveal its detail. Another immense mouthful of fruit, good acidity, a balanced wine, without quite the intensity of some in this flight, but managing the heat much better than others.

The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a perfumed, floral bouquet that is quite Vosne-like. Violets infuse the black cherries and crushed strawberries. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins, fleshy and ripe, but there is brightness and tension, with greater harmony on the finish compared to Gouge's Vaucrains. This is a successful Nuits Saint-Georges in a difficult vintage. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. -- Neal Martin
