The Wintzenheim 2020 Riesling Clos Häuserer is from a warm setting below the grand cru Hengst with marly soils topping the limestone rock. Very intense but pure and iodine-like on the nose, this is a full-bodied, silky-textured, very elegant, saline and finely tannic Riesling with lots of power, richness and a dense texture. With moderate 13.2% alcohol, this is a fresh but somewhat narrow and caged Riesling with some astringency on the finish. It was bottled with 6.6 grams per liter of residual sugar and a natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in April 2022. - Stephan Reinhardt
