Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a great site on Pritchard Hill, aged 22 months in new barrels, this is for those who love big, ripe, sexy wines.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Houyi Vineyard is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. Blackberry jam, chocolate, cloves, leather and licorice build in an ample, full-throttle Cabernet that brilliantly captures the personality of this rugged hillside site in the Vaca Mountains. Readers should be in no rush - this potent, tannic Cabernet is going to need a number of years to be at its very best. Sire's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Houyi Vineyard is much the same as the 2018, flavor-wise, but it's even bigger, richer and creamier in feel, lusher and more expansive on the palate. Notes of crushed stone and pencil shavings join cassis, black cherries and black chocolate in this massively endowed wine from Pritchard Hill, with winemaking by Julien Fayard. 241 cases produced.- JC
