(94-96 points) The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaumonts 1er Cru is well defined on the nose, a mixture of red and black fruit displaying fine mineralité and tension. The palate races out of the blocks with fine structure and delineation, and again, superb mineralité; palpable tension propels it through to the finish. You can almost feel the rock that lies just 20cm under the soil of this vineyard. Outstanding.

(92-95 points) Rich purple with a black interior. This is all about the concentration while retaining a good balance. Perhaps just a touch of mulberry but not overstressed. Otherwise, dark raspberry intensity, very well constructed with ripe tannins and a little acidity. Sunshine on the rocks here.

Revisited in bottle, the 2019 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaumonts is performing brilliantly, bursting from the glass with aromas of wild berries, rose petals, blood orange and exotic spices, framed by a deft application of classy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with lively acids, melting tannins and a long, penetrating finish, it's a sensual and seamless wine that will offer a broad drinking window.

Part of this parcel was planted in the 1950s and the rest by Alain Hudelot-Noëllat in 1978, at the top of the slope right on the rock; it's a site that does well in hot years. The wine shows a lovely ripeness, with sweet black fruit and mineral notes. The texture is approachable and supple, but the tannins carry the wine to a satisfying finish.
