(93 - 95 points) Faiveley's 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers is very promising indeed, mingling aromas of smoky berry fruit and plums with hints of rose hip, orange peel, musk and spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's concentrated and vibrant, with velvety tannins, lively acids and a long, perfumed finish.- EK

A gush of succulent black cherry fruit introduces this effusive red, along with black currant, blackberry, iron and oak spice notes. Dense, yet racy, with an intense, lingering finish of fruit, mineral and spices. Best from 2025 through 2045. — B.S.

Generous ripeness with plenty of candied-orange character give this a lot of upfront appeal. Unashamedly full body and broad shoulders, but this also has lively acidity that balances all that very well, giving it quite some drive at the bold finish. Drink or hold.

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru has a veneer of new oak on the nose plus some reduction, but there seems to be plenty of red fruit here—it’s just suppressed under that reductive haze at the moment. The palate is clean and fresh with fine tannins, a silver bead of acidity and touches of allspice and black pepper that furnish a relatively complex and engaging finish. Persistent. Faiveley has a large holding in Cazetiers at 4.06ha and the oldest vines were planted in the 1950s. The fruit for this bottling is completely destemmed and yet there is a slightly exotic aroma here, plus a robust, dark fruit character. The tannins are supple and well-managed, recalling Morey more than Gevrey.

Medium deep crimson, with reductive spicy notes. The quality of the fruit underneath the reduction is clearly very fine, developing gracefully across the palate with a little oak to finish and a trace of reductive bitterness. The wine should win through to score more highly later. Just a slightly lactic finish.
