Brisk full purple, currently showing a little bit of reduction, which tightens up the finish too, but in between there is a mass of concentrated fresh red fruit with great intensity and correct ripeness. Strawberry and raspberry fruit blend together, very persistent. By the time it cleans up from the reduction, this has become quite delicious in a balanced, sensual style.

The 2019 Volnay “Santenots du Milieu” from Domaine Arnaud Ente is a lovely example of the vintage that is very classically proportioned. The nose delivers a refined combination of red and black cherries, pomegranate, a touch of dark berry, gamebird, dark soil tones, bonfire, vanillin oak and a lovely topnote of currant leaf. On the palate the wine is full, focused and nicely ripe, with excellent depth at the core, ripe, buried tannins and a long, complex and tangy finish of impeccable balance and fine potential.

Inviting aromas of dark berries, plums, cinnamon, warm spices, blood orange and rose petals introduce the 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Les Santenots-du-Milieu, a medium to full-bodied, ample and succulent wine with a fleshy core of fruit, melting tannins and a long, perfumed finish.- WK
