Sweet dark fruits on the nose, like black cherry jam with lovely touches of Cabernet Franc apparent in the herbal, perfumed nuances. Super soft and succulent, this is rich and concentrated but delivered in a velvet glove - sculpted. Clearly powerful with a dark core of black fruits but with such an appealingly smooth texture and lift all the way through. Freshness is key here and this has a cooling mint, liquorice and mineral aspect from start to finish. Svelte and supple, this has structure and sophistication. A classy, well made wine. Easy to recommend. Tasted three times. Drinking Window 2027 - 2044

Beautiful structure and freshness, as I am finding in so many of the 2019s from Pomerol. Delivers on its En Primeur promise, the tannins remain tight but they are textured and confident, and layered through with sage, smoked earth, cigar box, fragrant rosebud, along with plenty of damson and black cherry fruit. Higher Cabernet Franc (up to 30% from 25%) and less time in barrel (18 months down from 20 months) than 2018. 50% new oak.

From an estate that appears to be on an upward trajectory, the 2019 Château Beauregard is a textbook 2019 with its pure, elegant, seamless style. Black cherries, darker currants, leafy herbs, and floral notes all emerge on the nose, and its wonderfully textured, medium to full-bodied, has gorgeous tannins, and a great finish. It's up with the 2018 and certainly one of the finest vintages I've tasted from this address. It will drink well for 15-20 years.

Elegant, silky, fresh and pure, with layers of lusciously-textured, soft, vibrant cherries. The wine is earthy, refined and forward, with hints of flowers, truffle, dark chocolate and plums that come through nicely on the slightly, chalky, refined, lifted finish. This could be my favorite vintage of Beauregard ever produced. Drink from 2024-2040.

The 2019 Beauregard is powerful, deep and super-expressive. There's terrific depth and resonance here. Black cherry, mocha, espresso, licorice, dried flowers and menthol power through. This is an especially muscular style that is more about impact than subtlety. Even so, the progress here over the last few years is worth noting. The 2019 is big, bold and delicious. A perfumed nose of blackberries, blueberries, dark cherries, sweet praline, chocolate and dried lemons. Medium-to full-bodied with fine tannins. Beautiful sweetly spiced fruit with a fleshy texture and a flavorful, creamy finish. Drink from 2025.

Tasted alongside the 2016 vintage, the 2019 equips itself well, and for my palate comes out just ahead. A traditional blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, with the élevage including a small number of amphorae alongside the barrels, the aromatics hint at a breathtaking level of tension, a multilayered construct of smoke, black pepper, crushed chalk and blackcurrants. It continues with a very finely polished style on the palate, with tense and defined blackcurrant fruits draped over a powdery backbone of tannins which provide a firm but smartly appointed grip. A very correct and beautifully formed construct which presents a touch more precision than the 2016 vintage. Poured from magnum. - Chris Kissack

The 2019 Beauregard offers up a rich bouquet of plums, cherries, baking chocolate and licorice, followed by a full-bodied, fleshy and sumptuous palate that's broad and enveloping, with an ample core of fruit, melting tannins and ripe but succulent acids. This is a gourmand, demonstrative Pomerol that's already drinking well. This certified-organic estate on the edge of the Pomerol plateau, opposite Petit Village, has been replanted at higher density and benefits from carefully winemaking. - William Kelley
