On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, rich and muscular, with real concentration and substance. This is a lively, sapid, broad-shouldered Les Saint-Georges that will be very long lived. - WK

(94-96 points) The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru comes from a single half-hectare of vines. The beautifully defined, very precise bouquet gathers momentum with aeration, strangely reminding me of Clos des Ducs in the Côtes de Beaune; it is just magnificent. The medium-bodied palate offers filigreed tannin, perfectly pitched acidity, just the right amount of sapidity to get the saliva flowing and almost clinical definition on the persistent finish. It is everything you want in a Les Saint-Georges, brushing off the warmth of the 2018 growing season with style. -- Neal Martin

Definitely at the riper end of the spectrum in Nuits-St-Georges in 2018, although not excessively so, this is a plush, slightly jammy expression of this famous Premier Cru site, with aromatic 30% new wood, balancing acidity and some of the grunt and grip that are typical of the terroir. The finish has commendable focus and precision. Drinking Window 2024 - 2030

(92-94 points) Les St Georges was the vineyard the worst affected by the hail, down 30%. Dense purple, a few plums, nothing in the way of hail-affected flavours, but perhaps less majestic than usual. There is intensity and a crystalline energy, perhaps not quite as sumptuous as usual.

Monsieur Chevillon reported that his parcel in Les St. Georges was down about thirty percent in 2018. The wine shows of great purity and depth on the nose, delivering scents of sappy dark berries and black cherries, espresso, pigeon, a complex base of soil tones and a nice touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is very deep, very powerful and impressively transparent in personality at the same time, with bottomless depth of fruit at the core, firm, ripe and chewy tannins and a very, very long, very well-balanced finish. This will need plenty of time and will always be a powerful vintage of Chevillon Les St. Georges, but this will also be an excellent wine for a long, long time, once it is finally ready to drink.
