(91-93) Walk into a flower store with a basket of cherries and you get the idea, especially if you add peppery spice, tobacco leaf and wet earth. Soft, polished, refined and sweet, the tannins are silky, the fruits are juicy and there is length. This is going to be delicious in its youth, and it will age well too! From a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot Franc, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, the wine reached 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.9. The harvest took place from September 14 until October 2. Due to the frost, they lost 35% of the crop.

The 2017 du Tertre is a very pretty wine. Succulent red cherry, dried flowers, mint, blood orange and spice notes meld together in a pliant, mid-weight Margaux that will drink well right out of the gate. This is an especially elegant vintage for a property that often leans towards a wilder style. The 2017 is one of the prettiest recent Tertres I can remember tasting. -- Antonio Galloni

Subdued nose, this takes its time in the glass but opens up to show savoury redcurrant and raspberry fruits. An estate that often emphasises texture, minerality and spice over fruit. There is complexity here but the acidity is a touch high.
