The 2015 L'Amiral is an impressive, savory, refined Cabernet Franc that is almost Bordeaux-like in its classicism. This cuvée is only made in what the producer deems to be an exceptional year, and then aged in barrel for a lengthy two years, although it never encounters new wood. Made in an elegant yet ripe, rounded style, this is just starting to develop, with savory complexity joining festive spices, tea and prunes, but there's plenty more in the tank. You can expect an abundance of fine, chalky tannins and a refreshing line of acidity, which is characteristic of this variety grown in this region. -- Rebecca Gibb MW
