Wine Spectator, July 2020

Featuring concentrated flavors of blackberry, black currant, earth and leafy underbrush, this red is wrapped in a shroud of stiff tannins that upsets the balance a little. Nevertheless, this will come into its own with...

jamessuckling.com, July 2019

This is a big and self-assured red with lots of charcoal, vanilla, dried blackberries, barbecued meat and resin. Full-bodied and very chewy indeed with a ton of dark fruit and raw power. A delicate line of acidity pulls...

Wine Enthusiast, May 2020

Truffle, leather, crushed violet, mature blueberry and molten chocolate aromas meld together on this full-bodied red. A savory, earthy blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petit Verdot, the smooth palate offers mature...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, September 2019

Castello dei Rampolla is a family-run wine estate located in the southern valley of Chianti Classico known as the “Conca d’Oro,” the Golden Basin. The land on which it stands has been owned by the di Napoli Rampolla family since 1739.

The estate produced its first bottles of Chianti Classico in 1975. The first bottles of Sammarco, a Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Sangiovese, were released in 1982. Castello dei Rampolla began practicing biodynamic farming in 1994, producing their first biodynamic wine, D’Alceo, in 1996.

Vigna d’Alceo is Castello dei Rampolla’s first biodynamic wine. It represents a union between the two generations of the Castello dei Rampolla winery: Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot as the founder Alceo, wished and biodynamic as his children, Luca and Maurizia, practice.

The wine is fermented in concrete, then aged in 500L barrels for 12-15 months and in bottle for 18-24. It fully reflects the character of the vineyard from which it originates. It is intense, warm, refined and elegant.Well-ripened red fruits blend perfectly with delicate notes of cigar and tobacco - an amazing concentration with no heaviness.
