Coming from Verzy and made from equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the 2012 Champagne Montagne Grand Cru pours a medium straw hue with a hint of copper and takes things up a notch with its aromas of framboise, iron-tinged earth, fresh orange zest, and croissant dough. Medium to full-bodied, it’s linear but has a more rounded feel, and it has a long, great finish. Elegant and refined, it also has a beautiful floral flourish that I’m finding to be the signature of this vintage. This will hold up over the next couple of decades. - Audrey Frick
