The 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape is a beautifully Provencal effort that gives up loads of black licorice, savory spice, leather and sweet black cherry aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and already approachable, it nevertheless has the tannic structure and concentration to evolve for 10-15 years. - Jeb Dunnuck

This medium bodied Chateauneuf exhibits aromas of bright and fresh red fruit accompanied by notes of rose petal, pink peppercorns and forest floor. The entry is lively with zippy acidity that provides wonderful lift to the red fruit flavors that pick up traces of star anise and leather. The tannins and structure are bold, and hint at the aging potential, which will allow this to cellar well through 2027. This will benefit by some aeration or time in the cellar which will soften the edges and harmonize the components. If opening for near-term enjoyment, serve this alongside a meal.
