Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2014

The brilliant 2011 Troplong Mondot is one of the superstars of the vintage. The final blend was 89% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc, and the wine tips the scales at 14.5% alcohol. Its opaque...

jebdunnuck.com, November 2017

The 2011 Troplong Mondot (89% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc) is a beautiful wine in this slightly challenging vintage and has a perfumed, sexy, complex style in its black raspberry, truffle, forest...

jamessuckling.com, February 2014

This is a muscular wine for the vintage with loads of fruit and tannins, not to mention the new wood. Full body, chewy and intense. Lots of minerals, sweet tobacco and berries. Needs a least three to four years to soften...

Wine Enthusiast, May 2014

There is a sense of alcohol with this wine. It is so rich, so dense, so ripe. The texture is round, full in the mouth with a touch of pepper. As a contrast, it also shows a surprising amount of freshness, especially in...

TheWineCellarInsider.com, February 2014

One of the top Right Bank wines of the vntage. The earthy, licorice filled, truffle, black cherry, espressi and smoke is a treat. This is one of the more concentrated wines of the vintage, finishing with fleshy, flashy...

Wine Spectator, March 2014

This pulls no punches, with a torrent of raspberry preserves, plum sauce and blackberry cobbler rushing forth, studded with warm fruit cake and melted licorice notes. Offers a long, well-toasted finish, where everything...

Bordeaux’s Chateau Troplong-Mondot is a large wine estate on the Right Bank of the Gironde River overlooking the village of Saint Emilion. Its 33-hectare vineyard is planted traditionally with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The chateau dates back to 1745 and Troplong-Mondot was originally part of one sizeable domaine which included the vineyards of Chateau Pavie. The current estate was established in 1850 when Raymond-Theodore Troplong acquired Mondot, expanded the vineyard, and promoted its reputation. Following a trend of that period, his heir Edouard Troplong later added Mondot to his name and Troplong-Mondot was born.

The property passed into the hands of the Valette family at the beginning of the 20th century, with Christine Valette taking up management of the property in 1980. Since then, things quickly changed for the better. The quality of the wines improved and Chateau Troplong-Mondot became known as one of the top wines of the Right Bank.

Christine Valette has since passed away and today, the estate is managed by Xavier Pariente who has been involved with the estate since 2002. In 2006, it was awarded the Premier Grand Cru Classe B in the Saint Emilion classification.
