50% merlot 44% cabernet sauvignon 5% petit verdot and 1% cabernet franc. Aged 18 months in 50% new oak. Chateau Lascombes now utilizes an optical sorting table which eliminates any berry that is not entirely up to par. The seductive and complex nose offers a beautiful mix of violet chocolate allspice cinnamon and beautifully ripe blackberry. Delicious blackberry and boysenberry emerge on the round palate with a touch of vanilla. This silky smooth wine will benefit from at least 5 years of aging and will age well for over 2 decades. Enjoyable, waves of cloves, iron filings, bay leaf, good deep dark blackberry fruits, creme de cassis, creme caramel, campfire smoke, grilled turmeric, pomegranate and orange peel. Exuberant but staying within the lines, and this is a serious jump up on the 2009. 36hl/h yield, 90% new oak; harvest September 30 to October 20. The 2010 Château Lascombes is based on 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot. It's a beautiful wine that has some maturity as well as plenty of life ahead of it. Darker currants, truffly earth, leather, and spicy notes all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a concentrated, layered mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and outstanding length. Drink 2025-2040.

Expressive nose of sweet cherries, cedar, vanilla and liquorice. Juicy and upfront at first, then becomes tight and severe as the promised fruity fun closes down. Tannins are nicely supportive, but the fruit doesn't have enough density or vibrancy to really sustain the palate, which becomes a little diluted. Dry, powdery liquorice and cola elements on the finish. (Drink between 2024-2028)

Espresso bean, coffee, licorice, chocolate and jammy blackberries create the aromatics. On the palate, the wine is lush, opulent and rich, there is a touch of heat in the powerful, ripe, oaky finish. Deep garnet in color, the 2010 Lascombes gives up notes of dried herbs, tilled soil and black olives over a blackcurrant cordial and plums preserves core plus a touch of crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers chewy tannins and bold freshness to support the savory flavors, finishing with an herbal lift.- LPB

Wood-driven tannins dominate at this stage, creating a wine that is structured and dense. The tannins are layered with the weight of the black currant and plum fruits. Lascombes is still finding its style, but is definitely on the upward slope.

Dark and nicely toasty, with ample espresso and ganache up front, followed by steeped fig, blackberry and black currant fruit that rumbles through the finish. Features ample tarry grip, but eschews minerality and finesse for a direct and toast-driven approach. Best from 2014 through 2026. – JM
