Lots of candied-orange, dark-fruit and dried-flower character on the nose. Full body with soft, silky tannins and a chewy finish. Funky and intense. Lots of smoked-meat, berry and dark-chocolate character. Very rich and delicious. Best Brunello from here in a long time. Try in 2016.

The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Pian delle Vigne is a well-built wine that shows the muscular side of this celebrated star of Tuscan winemaking. The Brunello opens to a thick, dark appearance with shapely aromas of dark cherry, plum, blackberry, leather dark chocolate and spice. The winemaking is impeccable, if rather stylized in terms of oak and fruit maturity. The aim here is to produce a wine the oozes softness and richness and this goal has been abundantly achieved.
