Deep dark ruby garnet, deep core, violet reflections, delicate edge brightening. Blackberries and black cherries, fine nougat, a hint of herbal spice, orange zest, multi-faceted, inviting bouquet. Complex, juicy, tightly meshed, mineral-salty, fine extract sweetness, silky tannins, great freshness, lingers for a long time, sure maturity potential, harmonious and already very well developed, a wine of great dynamism and vitality.

(97-99 points) Smoke, licorice, charcoal, black raspberries, espresso, dark chocolate, a mix, and floral aromatics open the perfume. On the palate, the wine is elegant, energetic, deep, and long. There is a sense of refinement in the fruit, paired with depth, concentration, and a relaxed attitude, finishing with layers of sweet, round, polished, juicy fruit. The finish wraps everything up nicely with lingering black cherries, espresso, and licorice, and a complicated endnote that includes its mineral essence. The wine blends 84% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% ABV, 3.4 pH. The harvest took place, September 9 - September 22. Yields were 28 hectoliters per hectare. In the cellars, Clos Fourtet continues making adjustments so that now, malolactic fermentation takes place in vat, and there is less new oak used for the elevage. (96-98 points) (Saint-Émilion; 84% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon; a final yield of 28 hl/ha; 14% ABV; tasted at the property). Nutty at first aromatically, which I wasn't quite expecting. Saline in its minerality too. And, of course, intensely dark berry-fruited. The signature florality is there but it needs a little coaxing from the glass. This is luminous, indeed crystalline, incredibly pure and seems to be composed of glistening sheets of layered silk. There's a little touch of graphite, but no cedar as yet. In a way it's simpler and more beautiful than that – just pure fruit grown on limestone! Clos Fourtet is a wine of vivid freshness, with a fruit profile more pure than perhaps any other in this vintage. It's intimate, refined, elegant, and extremely limpid, with the most delicate touch of those beautifully powdery signature limestone tannins. (96-98 points) Deep ruby-hued and showing a dense, inward, powerful profile that may be due to a higher percentage of Cabernet Franc than normal, the 2025 Clos Fourtet offers ripe currants, black cherries, graphite, scorched earth, and chocolatey nuances that define the bouquet, and it's full-bodied on the palate, with deep, layered mid-palate richness, ripe tannins, and a great finish. Based on 84% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon from clay and limestone soils, it's going to need time, but it's certainly loaded with potential.

(96-98 points) The 2025 Clos Fourtet is elegant, polished and super refined. Bracing mineral notes cut through a core of dark red and blue-toned fruit. Spice, mocha, new leather and licorice all meld together. Seamless and profoundly elegant, the 2025 impresses with its sensual personality, soft contours and magnificent balance. Time in the glass brings out touches of blood orange and white pepper that lend explosive brilliance through to the gorgeous, sustained finish. The team opted for cool fermentations in the cellar. Most lots saw 21-26 days on skins, which is on the shorter side. Clos Fourtet has recently shifted to doing malolactic fermentation in tank instead of in barrel, which has naturally lowered the wines' oak imprint, highlighted fruit purity and softened their contours. Ripe and heady blackcurrant aromas on the nose. Smells concentrated but fresh too. Supple and so juicy, really beautiful acidity giving tension but matched to ripe strawberries which give a gentle chew and a cooling blueberry touch with a chalky, flint and graphite finish. Friendly, balanced, smooth. There’s power but energy and elegance – this is beautiful, such a gorgeous texture. Great minerality with chalky tannins but nothing too much or out of place. A real wine of its place. A yield of 28hl/ha. 3.40pH. Malolactic fermentation in tank then ageing in just less than 40% new oak and the rest in one year old barrels 58% and 2% clay amphora.

Fragrant, intense and vivid opening, rose bud, violet flowers, intense and chalky. These are powerful tannins, chalk, pumice stone, a slow and gentle build through the palate, every time you think it is done it just gives a little bit more. Concentrated, elegant, savoury and just so tasty. 3.4pH. Harvest September 8 to 22. 40% new oak.

(94-96 points) Unfurling in the glass with notes of dark berries, plum and kirsch mingled with hints of iris and anise, the 2025 Clos Fourtet is full-bodied, ample and layered, with a multidimensional textural profile, tangy acids and a long and penetrating finish. To moderate extraction, fermentations were kept cool, at around 24 degrees Celsius, with only punching down. It's a blend of 84% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon.

(92-95 points) Intense and spicy with notable tannins and a spicy backbone of peppery fruits, blackberries, currants and a dense, strong aftertaste. This is a classic wine made in an old fashioned way in the best sense of the word, and it will require 5-7 years of cellaring. Should develop nicely though.
