The 2024 Morgon Cuvée Marcel Lapierre MMXXIV has an intense purple color and is a great, full-bodied wine of substance drawn from the oldest, near-centenarian vines of the domaine. It is immediately very aromatic, with white pepper and that highly characteristic note of granite. The palate is expansive and full, with a caressing, enveloping velvet, but equally deep in its concentration of tannins, already melted. A precise homage to the founder of the domaine, and a very lovely cuvée. Wait another two years before enjoying it. -Antoine Pétrus

The 2024 Morgon Cuvee Marcel Lapierre, which comes from two plots planted around 1903/1904 that Lapierre remarked had a different "gastronomic soil", has a glorious bouquet with ebullient red cherries, white-tipped strawberry and rose petal scents, all beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied, with crisp, slightly chalky tannins and gentle but insistent grip. This is very focused, with no vegetal aspects and a mineral-rich finish. Excellent. -Neal Martin
