Very racy and pristine with terrific floral complexity and a touch of yeastiness. This dances its way gracefully over your palate. Finely chiselled slatey minerality at the super-long and precise finish that pulls you back for more of this dry Mosel riesling delight. Drinkable now, but best from 2024.

(93-95 points) The 2022 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr GG was harvested in a parcel to the right of the small chapel on the blue slate. The vines were planted around 2010. Riper citrus-like tangerine opens the nose and is still colored by a touch of flinty reduction. The bright palate brings almost floral notions to that slightly flinty citrus impression and a gentle creaminess. The finish seems pristine, super-clean, and almost cleansing like a sorbet. Lovely, straight-laced, elegant, scented. (Dry) (Drink between 2025-2050)

From vines only 10 years old in the lower part of the cru, the 2022 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling GG opens with a clear, refined and pure, saline and floral bouquet with finely weathered slate aromas. Full-bodied, intense and concentrated on the palate, this is a rich and textural Riesling with a certain roundness and sur lie creaminess due to the newer fuders. This is a more Burgundian Riesling, if you will, but on the finish, it reveals the Mosel's crunchy saltiness and vitality. This 2022 needs some years to show its true character. 12.5% stated alcohol.
