I continue to love this vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands. The 2022 Chardonnay Soberanes Vineyard saw a native fermentation and spent 17 months in 35% new oak. Rich, opulent notes of ripe stone fruits, fresh croissants, toasted almonds, candle wax, and subtle nutmeg and baking spice notes all shine in this fabulously textured, layered, medium to full-bodied Chardonnay. With the concentrated, powerful style that this site always seems to deliver, it stays balanced, has nicely integrated acidity, and this compelling character that keeps pulling you back to the glass. It's up with the finest Chardonnay I've tasted from this site. As with most 2022s, it's already showing incredibly well and is ready to go. Drink bottles over the coming 4-6 years.
