(92-94 points) The finest vintage to date from this château, the 2022 Château Marquis De Terme checks in as 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot, and 4% Petit Verdot, all of which is resting in 50% new French oak. This terroir can often yield a more foursquare wine, yet director Ludovic David has done a great job over the past decade, and the wines today show much more finesse and elegance. Sporting a deep purple hue as well as terrific notes of pure cassis, blueberries, flowers, and spicy oak, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a pure, layered mouthfeel, and solid, building tannins. It's a terrific Margaux. Tasted twice.

Rocking blackcurrants, leafy tobacco, chocolate, and smoky nuances all emerge from the 2022 Le Marquis De Calon Ségur, one of the biggest, ripest, sexiest second wines in the vintage. It's full-bodied and has a round, opulent mouthfeel, sweet tannins, and a great finish. This might truly shock you with a decade of bottle age.

Deep berry fruits, but this has been skilfully handled over ageing, fresh mint leaf notes that add a streak of freshness, good stuff, with plenty of slate texture. 28hl/h yield, following hail, 60% new oak for ageing. Harvest September 6 through to 27.

(WA 91-93 points) One of several over-performing second wines in this vintage is the 2022 Le Marquis de Calon-Ségur, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and seamless Saint-Estèphe redolent of minty berries, licorice and rose petals. Lively and penetrating, it punches above its weight. - William Kelley

Cherries, strawberries, flowers, cocoa, and spearmint aromas are on display in the perfume. On the palate, the wine is soft, round, and polished, with lift, freshness, and sweetness with a touch of chocolate mint on the backend. The wine blends 58% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. Drink from 2025-2040.

(90-92 points) A blend of 58% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2022 Le Marquis de Calon Segur is deep garnet-purple in color. It strides out of the glass with confident blackcurrant jelly and blueberry pie notes, giving way to suggestions of Indian spices, dusty soil, and unsmoked cigars. Big, rich, and generously fruited, the full-bodied palate is well-supported by firm, rounded tannins and a refreshing backbone, finishing with great length. pH 3.65.

The 2022 Le Marquis de Calon Ségur is driven by Merlot on the nose, with vivid red cherry and crushed strawberry scents soaring from the glass while maintaining delineation and freshness. The medium-bodied palate offers a bit of sucrosity on the entry, transitioning into a more structured and classically styled middle and finish, with hints of black truffle emerging towards the end. This is simply a delicious Marquis de Calon Ségur. -- Neal Martin

Mulled black currant and cherry fruit is inlaid with singed alder and bay leaf hints, along with a dried lilac accent. Light tugs of leather and warm earth through the finish give this an old-school edge. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2035. Rich and vibrant on the nose, smells concentrated and alcoholic. Crisp and clean on the palate however with bite to the cherry, plum and blackcurrant fruit alongside a hint of sweet strawberry and herbal raspberry on the mid palate that gives some instant energy before the clear concentration and heft of the wine shows though. Not so much in the texture but in the ripe flavours, cool minty and stone edged tannins and clear liquorice and clove spice. Still taught but detailed with elements of generosity. 2% Petit Verdot completes the blend. 3.65pH. A yield of 26hl/ha. Ageing 17 months, 30% new oak.
