Expressive nose full of chocolate, cherries, roses and liquorice. Quite compact and restrained on the palate, the dark blue and black bramble fruit has a nice fleshy, almost plush texture - with stoney elements that come across as a bit drying which overtakes the juicy, lively acidity and makes it a touch sombre right now - especially compared to Labegorce which has more vibrancy at this point. However, I like the structure and frame. It's well built with plenty of power and will be excellent for ageing. Touches of powdery chocolate, espresso and dried herbs on the finish.

Austerity on the opening beats suggests that there is a long life ahead of this wine, and it has real energy, tight tannins, an electric quality to the dark berry fruits that give real lift and lusciousness. Great job here from Nathalie Perrodo and Marjolaine de Coninck CEO and technical director.

(95+ points) Beautiful Cabernet notes of currants, leafy tobacco, menthol, and lovely floral notes all define the 2022 Château Marquis D'Alesme, a medium to full-bodied, concentrated, seamless, elegant Margaux. It has a rich, upfront style, yet it nevertheless brings solid tannic grip. I love it today, yet it's going to take a decade to hit prime time. The blend is 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, hitting 14.5% alcohol. It will see its 30th birthday in fine form.

Flowers, red pit fruits, mint, black currants, plums, and chocolate aromas burst forth effortlessly. On the palate, the wine is silky, creamy, and fresh. The cherries and plums are sweet, vibrant, and long-lasting. The palate is filled with espresso, spice, mint, and sweet red berries, finishing with a touch of bitter cocoa. The wine blends 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2027-2055.

Broad and velvety in feel, this delivers a steady wave of blackberry and black cherry reduction supported by a light graphite spine. The 2022 Marquis d'Alesme is a heady, voluptuous wine. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, new leather, spice and blood orange all meld together in this succulent, racy Margaux. The 2022 offers tons of immediacy and overall appeal. -- Antonio Galloni

The 2022 Marquis d’Alesme (the Becker suffix was dropped years ago, by the way) is a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, all matured for 16 months in French oak barrels, using 50% new oak. A dark yet fragrant aromatic profile, with dark red cherry notes, dressed with a little matchsticky reduction. The palate is fresh, light and charming, with rather open and juicy-peppery cherry fruit to the fore, which leads to a rather lightly drying finish, the tannins ruling the middle and end of the palate. This feels robust and sappy in its composition, with a significant core of rich and sappy tannins in the finish, but it has a sense of harmony and integration running through the palate, and I am sure time will allow it all to integrate further. Tasted three times. The alcohol on the label is 14.5%.
