Complex spicy and smoky nose with plenty of stone fruit and a touch of persimmon. Impressive ripeness and structure on the palate, but still remains medium-bodied. So much mineral and spicy depth at the finish that you barely feel the sweetness. Very long and structured finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.

The 2022 Riesling Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Spätlese (Golden Capsule) is clear and very fine on the elegant and subtle nose that indicates perfectly ripe fruit and intermingles its flavors with delicate notes of finely weathered slate and some flinty tones. Quite sweet on the palate, this is a round and elegant, refined and savory-finishing ZSU with delicate acidity and a serious, intense and persistently mineral structure. It is very long yet still a bit sharp and thus rather dry on the clear and stimulating finish. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. The 2022 Riesling Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Spätlese Gold Capsule still has a vestige of reduction and a flicker of both tart wood sorrel and mango. The palate, however, plunges into rounded, sweet yet zesty citrus, uniting zestier tangerine with rounded, sweet, succulent clementine juice. At the same time, a more sonorous tone of orange zest keeps it all in check. Sweetness is tempered, and the flavors are endless.
