(94-97 points) Racked once to remove a reductive element and then returned to barrel. A fine, even, concentrated purple. There is no doubting the fruit on the nose, entirely red berries, nothing black, and with nuances. Little wavelets of different fruits, now a bilberry or a blueberry after the initial alpine strawberry, this wine delivers an intensity matched with complexity. Potentially very fine when it grows up.

(93-95 points) The 2022 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru is completely de-stemmed with 50% new oak, unlike the Clos Vougeot, this cuvée having just been racked. It has a clean, precise bouquet of pure black cherries and blueberry scents enmeshed with crushed violet blossoms. The medium-bodied palate is lightly spiced, focused, and poised with fine tannins, and the oak is neatly integrated, with a dash of black pepper on the precise finish.

(92-94 points) In contrast to the expressiveness displayed by many wines in the range, this is sufficiently reduced as to mask all but subtle spice nuances. More interesting are the notably finer if less concentrated middleweight flavors that exhibit both good vibrancy and focused power on the firm, youthfully austere, dusty and compact finish. This is presently much like the Vosne-Romanée "Les Beaux Monts" in that it is borderline strict so extended keeping will be necessary here as well.
