This shows superb structure with a tight and intense center palate of fruit and phenolics. It's full-bodied but extremely reserved and muscular with very fine texture. The palate shows apples, pears, lemons and some crushed stones. Lilacs as well. Really minerally. A great Haut Brion blanc. Drink after 2029.

The 2022 Château Haut-Brion Blanc is one of the richer, more powerful wines from this château in some time. Sensational notes of ripe pineapple, honeyed white flowers, crushed stone, and even a hint of tangerine all shine here, and it's full-bodied on the palate, with a deep, layered, opulent style. Based on 51.4% Sémillon and 48.6% Sauvignon Blanc, the Grand Vin hit 14.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.38. It’s a brilliant wine to enjoy over the coming two decades.

(94-96 points) Honeysuckle, white peach, vanilla, almonds, lemon rind, pineapple, honeysuckle and white flowers create the nose. On the palate, the wine is sweet, creamy and fresh, with orange, lemon and tart green apple nuances from start to finish. The 2022 Haut-Brion Blanc is a powerful, deep white that is going to take a number of years to be at its best—not as many as the red wine, but several years just the same. Citrus confit, white flowers, sage, mint and chamomile open in the glass, and yet it is the wine's textural richness and viscosity that stand out most. -- Antonio Galloni

Sweet lemons and peaches on the nose with green apples and touches of hay. Fresh and alive, this has an instant appeal with clean and stony citrus elements, herbal edged honey and cool acidity giving an altogether precise and pristine profile. It's straight and streamlined with a calm texture - not zingy or too taught, more relaxed but not heavy. Less about lift, more about depth and building the wine vertically layer by layer. Doesn't feel too hot at all but at the same time doesn't have super high acidity. A touch of spice lingers. Maintains a straight line with purpose but i still feel it's a little tense. Well constructed and can't fault the precision on show. Not the same tension as 2021 but there's freshness there and keeps a cool stony profile. 3.38pH. 41% new oak.

This has sculpted lift through the palate, a cooler expression of the vintage than La Mission Blanc, reserved aromatics opening to show apple, white mango, citrus, great quality, beguiling soft rose petal aromatics. Harvest 17 to 23 August, 2nd earliest harvest after 2003.

More flamboyant and expressive than La Mission, the 2022 Haut-Brion Blanc reveals aromas of white fruits, spices, ripe orchard fruits and spring flowers. Full-bodied, seamless and fleshy, with bright acids and a pure, lively profile, it's long and elegant, concluding with a saline, penetrating and delicately mordant finish. - Yohan Castaing

A slight majority of Semillon in the blend, but still a good slug of Sauvignon here, which will help in a vintage such as this, and the élevage was in 41% new oak. Compared to La Mission this has a real sense of eagerness on the nose, with more delineated, savoury and bright aromatic character, with crushed chalk, lime zest, lemon balm and peach. I can sense the greater energy levels here. This continues on the palate which shows a controlled textural confidence, with supple layers of orange citrus, bitter lemon pith, white peach and vanilla flower, with a combination of bitter phenolic grip and nice acidity giving it a freshness which is not common in this vintage. It finishes taut and bright as well. This is a very strong Haut-Brion Blanc in the context of the vintage. The alcohol on the label is 14.5%. - Chris Kissack
