Purity and wholeness, this is the Frankland River at its core.There’s gravitas and an unadulterated sweet depth of fruit that you want to sink into, with aromas of lemon pith, lime blossom, pretty white florals, key lime meringue pie and pollen. Oak frames the wine here, but it's gentle and unassuming. Nutmeg spice is finely ground and the detailed fruit on the palate is akin to multi-layered embroidery. Wet limestone minerality gently nudges plush and soft fruit phenolics that weave together like flowing silk. Sensuous yet at the same time compelling and a little edgy and assertive. Long and fine-boned; a regal wine. Organically grown and vinified. Aged on lees for 9 months, with 8% matured in barrel.

Seriously, if Frankland Estate can’t make outstanding Riesling, well, what’s the point of getting out of bed? A more subtle offering in 2022 retains the DNA thumbprint of the vineyard. Lemon blossom, honeysuckle, lime zest and finger lime acidity, yet softish and almost plush. The palate builds, adding a slip of sexy phenolics, the merest smidge of sweetness and everything in harmony to extend out and excite to the very end. As usual, an elegant, distinct riesling. The 2022 Riesling Isolation Ridge leads with lime blossom, crushed chalk, bath salts, preserved lemon rind, brine/ocean spray (funny, it's about 85 kilometers to the closest coastline of the Southern Ocean), jasmine flowers and green apple skins. In the mouth, the wine is—as this wine usually is—structural, firm, powerful, long, energetic and mouthfilling in its laser-like way. Flavor kind of shoots around the mouth: pew, pew, pew.
