This has a nice touch of new wood that isn’t yet fully integrated on the nose, with fine spices, sweet blueberries and violets throughout. Quite fresh on the palate with higher acidity than many of its peers of this hot and dry vintage. The tannins are tight-grained and vertical with good vibration before the lengthy finish. Give it two more years to soften and dial in. 95% merlot and 5% cabernet franc. Drink from 2027. - Zekun Shuai

The floral character of the perfume is striking. From there, you discover silky, opulent, and fresh layers of sweet, ripe, deep red fruits, dark chocolate, and a lingering spicy note that shows in the elegant finish's backend. What I appreciate most, is the purity of the fruits on display here. The wine is a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2026-2047.

Rocking levels of ripe red, blue, and black fruits, as well as truffly earth, violets, blood orange, and chocolate, all soar from the 2022 Enclos Tourmaline, another extroverted, sexy, full-throttle Pomerol. I love its balance on the palate, and it has ripe, polished tannins, full body, ample mid-palate depth, and a great finish. It's hard to resist today, yet this will benefit from 3-5 years in the cellar and shine over the following two decades.

This is not quite pure Merlot, as there is 5% Cabernet Franc blended in here. I like the sense of integration on the nose, which presents powdery dark fruits with scented oak notes of sandalwood and cedar, along with a little hawthorn freshness. This has real impact on the palate, with dark fruits, black cherry and black plum, but with tobacco and toast lift around the edges, a touch of barrel spice to it, but most of all a real sense of energy and freshness. The palate is supported by a fine-boned and well knit frame of tannins, taut and dense but not drying, which make their presence known throughout the palate into the finish, where they grip down more firmly. There is acidity and freshness too though. An imposing wine, but with a deft footprint. Tasted twice. The alcohol on the label is 13.5%. - Chris Kissack

Fully charged and potent nose filled with highly scented purple flowers and sun-kissed berry fruit with liquorice accents. Concentrated and ripe, this has clear power and strength but offers a restrained expression which, despite the intense fruit flavours, is actually sleek and streamlined. It has outer edges of toast, cedar and clove spice which give some restriction in terms of width and charm, but it has crystalline acidity as well as nice tannin finesse. Detailed and precise with nice focus and freshness.

Entirely crafted from Merlot situated between Le Pin and Trotanoy, the 2022 Enclos Tourmaline is a notable success this year. Wafting from the glass with aromas of dark cherries, flowers, iris and cassis, the wine is medium to full-bodied, concentrated, dense, layered and structured. Introverted and slightly austere and possessing a fleshy core of fruit and a long, racy finish, it will require some patience. - Yohan Castaing

The 2022 Enclos Tourmaline is soft, sensual and inviting. Floral and spice notes meld into dark red-toned fruit in an open-knit, juicy Pomerol that is all charm. Succulent, silky tannins and a discreet touch of oak wrap it all together. This is a stylish Pomerol from Peter Kwok. -- Antonio Galloni
