The 2022 Riesling Wiltinger Braune Kupp Le Gallais Spätlese brings another level of opulence and richness, and it's a powerful 2022 offering tons of sweet citrus and minty stone fruits as well as sappy flower and wet stone nuances. Hitting the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, it has a round, expansive, yet still crystalline-like mouthfeel that only Riesling seems able to achieve, and it's flawlessly balanced, seamless, and incredibly long. It's another riveting 2022 from this estate that's probably going to have 30-40 years of overall longevity.

Very spicy nose with plenty of wild berry and flower aromas. Succulent and compact with excellent structure on the medium-bodied palate. The interplay of restrained richness and bright acidity giving it terrific drive at the bold finish. Plenty of spice and some salt there. Drink or hold.

The 2022 Riesling Wiltinger Braune Kupp Spätlese opens with a ripe green-red apple flesh note with overtones of candied angelica and earth after summer rain. The palate almost has an iron-oxide edge framing that juicy ripe red apple fruit soon verging into greengage compote. Ripe lemon pervades all and illuminates a fine, smooth texture reminiscent of very fine earth saturated with all that lovely fruit emanating from it. - AK
