The Clos Prieur 2022 opens with a bright, forward blackberry fruit aroma with a suggestion of violets and liquorice. The texture is silky but very firm, and the structure leads to a generous, lingering finish. The grapes are from two parcels that total 0.40-hectares, located just downslope from Mazis-Bas, that are now trained on stakes and farmed biodynamically to produce an excellent wine that marries supple generosity with the structure to assure longevity.

(91-94 points) Here too the wood treatment is moderate with a similar fruit profile if less obvious sauvage elements in view. The intense and precise medium-bodied flavors are a combination of volume and refinement along with an almost aggressive bead of minerality adding lift to the youthfully austere, compact and equally serious finale. This too offers fine development potential.

(92-94 points) A fairly dense mid purple. Pure red fruit, fresh raspberry. This is sensual and delightful, much easier to appreciate today than Petite Chapelle, though also having a little coconut oak. Fresh acidity behind, middleweight, particularly persistent.

(92-94 points) One of Trapet's more structured premiers crus this year is the 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Prieur, a medium to full-bodied, deep and textural wine redolent of plums, rose petals, orange zest and licorice. Built around a chassis of powdery tannin, it concludes with an expansive finish.- WK

(92-94 points) The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos-Prieur 1er Cru is very pure on the nose with black cherries and wild strawberry fruit, the 50% whole bunches deftly assimilated. Very tender aromatically. The palate is medium-bodied with a sapid entry. It has a sweet core of black fruit but is not cloying, the acidity driving along with superb tension and poise towards the finish. A superb Clos Prieur.
